A particular highlight of the Lalique collection are the innovative glass works, which go back to the founder René Lalique.
René Lalique, born in 1860, developed two artistic passions at an early age: Drawing and jewelry design. The young artist caused a sensation with his creative and innovative designs and Lalique was soon able to open his own workshops and jewelry stores in the most prestigious locations in the French capital. His collections in a characteristic and innovative design language found fans among France's artistic and economic elite of the fin de siècle.
In 1911, Lalique presented an all-glass collection for the first time at the major Paris art and jewelry exhibition.
The focus was not only on art objects, but above all on the design of high-quality consumer goods. Lalique presented perfume bottles, glass accessories for interior design, crystal chandeliers, but also designs for glass radiator grilles for luxury cars.
