A clear plan is essential when you decide to take over something as unique as the former home of Yves Saint Laurent. Fashion designer, businessman and hotelier Jasper Conran had carefully considered how he would proceed when he invested in Villa Mabrouka. With his experience as a successful entrepreneur with L'Hotel Marrakech , he did not see this project as just another project, but rather as a personal mission.

A year before the outbreak of the pandemic, Jasper Conran was offered the property that Yves Saint Laurent had bought in Tangier in 1990. While looking for a garden tent - Tangier is known for its tent production - Conran heard about the property and became curious. He wanted to visit the former Saint Laurent house, which had stood empty for many years after belonging to an Arab princess, at least once. The observation that unexpected opportunities always arise when you are not actively looking for them proved to be true.
